Coaching Staff
Buffalo Soccer Club is staffed by a large group of volunteer coaches all of abilities and experiences, supervised and guided by a small group of highly trained and certified techincal directors. The technical directors are licensed coaches who have years of experience in the game of soccer. Empire United, a sister organization of Buffalo Soccer Club, is a valuable source of licensed staff for Buffalo Soccer Club and we provide volunteer coaches who are willing and able with training and certification opportunities.
Licensed Staff Members (LSM) - Possesses a minimum of a United State Soccer Federation "D" license.
Certified Staff Members (CSM) - Possesses a minimum of a United State Youth Soccer Youth Module Certificate.
General Staff Members (GSM) - No minimum requirement needed.

Anna-Lesa Calvert "Tex"
A lifelong soccer player, Ms. Calvert brings a history of talent and dedication, to both the game of soccer and the WNY community, to her new role. As a member of the prestigious D'Feeters Soccer Club in Dallas, Texas, she won the North Texas State Championship and was a finalist in the Region III Championships, as well as several other top tournaments nation-wide. After her club career, she joined the University of Buffalo women’s soccer team where she was four year starter in net. She was a captain for the team her senior year and earned MAC accolades, being placed on the All-MAC Academic team two years. Ms. Calvert was also an NCAA Sportsmanship Award winner and an East Region Academic Scholar- Honorable Mention. Along with her career at the University at Buffalo, she was a member of the Rochester Ravens semi-pro women’s soccer team for two years. Ms. Calvert holds a USFF National “D” license and has been coaching in the Western New York area for several years.

Kristine Eckert
Kristine competed at the Division I collegiate level at the University of New Hampshire. Kris started her coaching career in many areas of the youth game and collegiate game, coaching at both the Division I and Division II levels. She has been involved in youth coaching at the premier level since 1993, including coaching a state championship and Region I semi-finalist team in New Hampshire. She has been a part of the ODP coaching staffs in both Regions I and IV, serving as both a head coach and goalkeeper coach. She holds a USSF National "C" license.

Donnie Hathorn
Donnie Hathorn begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Niagara men's soccer program.
Hathorn spent the 2010 season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Valparaiso University in Indiana where he assisted in team training, recruiting, game management, scouting, fundraising, summer camps and academic mentoring of student-athletes. The 2010 Crusaders placed three members on All-Horizon League team and the team was a recipient of the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the eighth straight year.
Prior to Valparaiso, Hathorn was at NCAA Division II Regis University in Denver, Colo. from 2008-2010. Hathorn served as both assistant coach and interim head coach during his time with the men’s soccer program. During his tenure at Regis, Hathorn had four All-Central Region First Team and three All-RMCA First Team selections as the team combined for a 17-14-6 overall record.
In 2007, Hathorn was an assistant women’s soccer coach at Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Ariz. where he was in charge of the goalkeepers. Hathorn was also the Director of Coaching for the Flagstaff United Soccer Club.
Hathorn was a four-year member on the men’s soccer team at Siena and was a three-time MAAC All-Academic honoree.
Hathorn graduated with bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Siena in 2003 and earned a MBA from Northern Arizona in 2007. Hathorn is married to the former Linda Consolante, who is currently an assistant coach for the University of Maine women’s soccer team.

Mike Schermerhorn
Mike has coached competitive soccer for 11 years at the scholastic, travel and premier levels. He has his USSF National D License, NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma, English FA Psychology and Fitness Diplomas and is a certified personal trainer. Mike has worked summer soccer camps at Roberts Wesleyan, Clarion University, Edinboro University and Family First Sports Park. He is currently a coach for Empire United, a trainer for the Northtowns Soccer Club, part of the WNY Exceptional Seniors staff, and is entering third season as coach of the Immaculata Academy varsity program.

Jenny Kern
Jenny competed at the Division 1 level, playing center midfield for the University at Buffalo. After graduating in May 2010 with a B.A. In Production, she began coach ingwith the Empire United Soccer Cub. Jenny has worked soccer camps for the University at Buffalo and is currently an assistant coach with Empire United. Just starting her coaching career, Jenny is going for her USSF National E License.

Jason Pickhardt
Coach Pickhardt "Pick" is a Western New York native who played for many local clubs including Germania and Buffalo Premier Futbol Club. As a young player he played internationally with Great Lakes Soccer Club (Cleveland, OH) in the Dana Cup in Denmark, the Keele Classic in England and several other friendlies throughout Europe. Coach Pick played two years at the NCAA Division III level at Clarkson University and now holds a USSF National "D" coaching license. He has been coaching for the past several years with Buffalo United SC, Athens United (Athens, Ga), Clarke Central HS (Athens, Ga) JV girls, Empire USA and the East Aurora JV Boys program.

Megan Kiernan
Megan has been involved in organized soccer in Buffalo for the past 15 years. She played high school soccer for Williamsville East High School and played at the premier level for five years. She’s been involved in youth coaching for various clubs in Western New York for the past eight years and holds a State D License from USSF.

Beverly Goebel
From Moreno Valley, Calif., Beverly brings with her a wealth of playing experience. She played for the University of Miami. and served as a captain for her team there. After being drafter 27th overall by the Washington Freedom, Goebel moved to Buffalo to join the Western New York Flash in thier first season in the WPS.
