Club History

In 2007, Algonquin Studios, a locally-owned and operated company in the city of Buffalo, redirected some of its annual charitable contributions to create a not-for-profit entity called Algonquin Sports for Kids. Buffalo Soccer Club is AS for Kids' pilot program, offering soccer-related activities including after-school activities and house leagues to children living in the City of Buffalo.

In 2012, Algonquin Sports for Kids partnered with Independent Health Foundation and the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County to begin the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program. Soccer for Success® is the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s free afterschool program that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. AS for Kids and the Soccer for Success program serves over 1400 youth from the City of Buffalo annually and has proven results seeing statistically significant changes in BMI and cardiovascular endurance for youth in the program.

Mission Statement:

To utilize sports for youth development to encourage youth and family development in a safe environment through healthy choices, the development of athletic identity, and positive behavior changes, specifically an increase in health, self-discipline, personal responsibility, and respect for self and others.

If you can contribute to the development and growth of our club please contact Anna-Lesa Calvert.
