A Buffalo NY native, Lauren graduated from John Carroll University in 2015. While in college, Lauren had the opportunity to intern at Hekima Place, an orphanage outside of Nairobi, Kenya for girls who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS or rescued from vulnerable situations. During her internship, Lauren engaged the girls in sports, primarily soccer, and found that this helped her form lasting relationships through mutual trust. Upon returning to the States, Lauren served as a Coach Across America Coach for AmericaSCORES Cleveland, an organization that inspires urban youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. AmericaSCORES Cleveland uses soccer, poetry and service to fulfill their mission. Lauren assisted service-learning projects and developed community relationships with local colleges to strengthen current programming. After graduation, Lauren returned to Buffalo and began working with Buffalo Soccer Club as the Program Coordinator. Lauren is excited to be in her hometown using her experiences with sports to create safe places in the City of Buffalo for youth to play and develop their sense of self!
