About Soccer for Success

Soccer for Success is the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s innovative youth development program that uses soccer as a tool to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for children in low-income urban communities. The U.S. Soccer Foundation has partnered with Buffalo Soccer Club through a collaboration with Independent Health Foundation and the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County to operate Soccer for Success sites — providing thousands of children with free after-school programming three days a week.

Soccer for Success was across the county and operated by over 42 different organizations  during the 2016-2017 program year. Our 2012 evaluation data revealed impacts in a child's ability to work in a team, in their areobic capacity, and in their body mass index (BMI):

Soccer For Success is running throughout the country. You can learn more about how Soccer for Success is working in the South Bronx in New York City and in Los Angles, California!
